Vintage living 2015

Vintage living - part of Vintage Serie

Vintage living, part of Vintage Serie.

This (2015) summer 3 essential things came together for my new personal work : idea, opportunity and energy.
I had few challenges as I did all by myself, including modelling. Although the styling is not perfect, I do love the result. I truly enjoy working on my VINTAGE SERIE and still have plenty of ideas to visualise.

Vintage : “of high quality and lasting value, or showing the best and most typical characteristics of a particular type of thing, especially from the past”.

Vintage versus retro : “the best way to think about the difference between retro and vintage is that vintage refers to construction, while retro refers to appearance. This is why a vintage item will always be retro, but a retro item is not always vintage. For practical reasons, people sometimes prefer to use retro only to describe new items, as this prevents confusion between the two terms. Even so, this is not a solid rule, and not everyone abides by this separation”.

No animals were harmed for this picture.

Vintage furniture.
“Vintage furniture is furniture that is between 30 to 100 years old”. “Vintage furniture is not considered antique. Antique furniture is 100 years or older. Vintage furniture is under 100 years old. Antique furniture was made from wood, aside from upholstered material and fabrics. Vintage furniture is from the 20th century, when plastics such as resin and Lucite were invented. Metals were also used in furniture manufacturing. Metals used in furniture design include aluminum, chrome and steel. Furniture that is vintage was also designed during various notable furniture movements, such as the Art Deco and Modernist movements”.

Astro time lapse

Night sky photography : Astro time lapse

Indeed, capturing the night sky is exciting. Especially when you are rewarded with a fairly descent beginner’s result. On August 12 when the meteorite rain was a topic in the news, I knew that this was my momentum to try something new : astrophotography. Although I do not have an intervalometer, 3 other parameters were present, i.e. a good tripod, a wide angle lens and a location with limited light pollution. Some of the challenges were camera shake, focusing difficulty and incorrect exposure time. But, see here the result that I got after enabling some camera options and few trial and error shots. To get the star trail effect I had to stack photos. Nice isn’t it? I’m keen to pursue blue hour and night sky photography.

p.s. the bright stripe on the right hand side of the photo is a falling star / meteorite.
